Syria Tours

Syria is a country located in Western Asia, bordered by Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Israel , and Lebanon.

Damascus is the capital and the official language is Arabic. Syria has been inhabited since ancient times and it formed part of the Ottoman Empire right up  until the end of World War I.  That was when it became a French mandate until 1946 when it gained independence.

Wander, wonder, discover.

Syria Opens Back Up

Syria is opening back up to tourism again, the government control the majority of the
country and a lot of reconstruction has been happening to enable smooth travel. Our
tours prioritise safety and bring back much needed tourism for those who require it.

Safety & Security

The FCDO Advises against all travel to Syria. We avoid travel to some parts of the country
and take precautions in the areas we do travel.

The FCO are a great starting point on risks and country information and what is going on inside the country. However they are extremely broad, but essentially that is what they are intended for. Lots of international people are working in these countries, including Syria, and some parts of the country are visited, and some are not.
The risk is more nuanced that the FCO advice. Once a company, like Wild Frontiers in Pakistan, Untamed Borders in Afghanistan and Syria (and many other companies to name a few) and of course, our Down to Earth company, knows how to work within a region we find or know ways to reduce this risk to an acceptable level. If we do not feel that, then we simply do not go.
In small groups, with experienced guides in specific ways we can reduce these risks to acceptable levels.
From our knowledge, and contacts from living in Syria in 2010 -2012 and from guiding in the country now since 2017 (and going back to study!) we are more than happy taking people into the country.
